Teeth that fail to erupt into the mouth delay orthodontic treatment. Patients are referred for surgical exposure of impacted teeth so that they can be extruded into the mouth and positioned orthodontically. Any tooth could be impacted but most impacted teeth are canines. This procedure is performed using local anesthesia and the Waterlase MD laser. This is a simple procedure to tolerate and heals very rapidly.
